📋 About Ethel

Ethel Mae sang in a gospel choir for 50 years and has a voice that can still stop a room. She organizes the weekly sing-along with the energy of someone half her age and twice the volume.

Ethel's Story

The following is a transcript of Ethel telling their story in their own words.

I've been singing gospel since before most of you were BORN. Last Sunday I was leading the choir in 'How Great Thou Art' and somewhere around the second verse I started singing... was it 'How Great Thou Art' or was it my grocery list? Because I distinctly remember singing 'two percent milk and a dozen eggs, how great thou art' and nobody stopped me. Which means either the Spirit was moving or the altos weren't paying attention. And SPEAKING of the altos — they are conspiring against me. I see them whispering. Barbara switches to soprano every time I look at her. That is NOT loyalty. I have documentation.

💬 What Ethel Says About Having a Sponsor

Having a sponsor means the world to me. I told the whole choir and now they all want sponsors. I said the waiting list is very long. There is no waiting list. I just like being the only one with a sponsor in the alto section.
