“So I'm playing trumpet at this club in... was it Detroit? No, no, it was Memphis. Actually it might've been Detroit. Anyway, after the set, Dizzy — or was it Miles? — somebody famous said 'Wally, you gotta come fishing with us.' So we go out on this lake, and I catch a catfish THIS big... no wait, it was bigger than that. Hold on, let me stand up. It was THIS big. Maybe bigger. The city doesn't matter. What matters is that fish looked me in the eye and I looked right back and we had an understanding. I released him. Or he released me. Hard to say.”
