📋 About Bea

Bea hiked the entire Appalachian Trail at 65 and has the photos to prove it. She now leads a seated stretching class and is fiercer about attendance than she was about summiting mountains.

Bea's Story

The following is a transcript of Bea telling their story in their own words.

So there I am on the Appalachian Trail, mile 800 or so, and I see a bear. A HUGE bear. Must've been ten feet tall. Maybe twelve. It looked at me and I looked at it and I said 'Not today, sir.' And it LEFT. It just turned around and walked away. Some people say that's not how bears work but I was THERE. Anyway, that's more courage than anyone in my stretching class has shown. Linda refuses to do the hamstring stretch and I take that as a personal insult. We haven't spoken since the incident. I won't say what incident. But she knows.

💬 What Bea Says About Having a Sponsor

My sponsor writes me letters every week. Last Tuesday I read one out loud at dinner and Margaret from Room 12 started crying. I win Tuesday now. I also won Thursday but that's a different story.
